The Saskatchewan Health Authority has released a public notice regarding potential measles exposure in Weyburn.

According to the release, the potential exposure came on Thursday, April 17th at Walmart in Weyburn. Individuals who were at that location between 3:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. are being advised to monitor themselves closely for 21 days after the potential exposure.

Potential measles symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, small white spots inside the mouth and throat, and a red blotchy rash, which develops on the face and spreads down the body about three to seven days after other symptoms begin.

The SHA is also asking anyone exhibiting these symptoms after their exposure to contact Healthline 811 for symptom assessment and care advice. Due to the highly contagious nature of measles, they ask that those exposed do not attend a clinic in person.

More information on measles and this particular exposure is available on the SHA website.
