A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a collision on Main Street in Winkler involving a vehicle and two motorcycles, which were observed speeding by police.
According to Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt, officers were travelling southbound on Main Street when they saw “two motorcycles travelling northbound at a high rate of speed” and initiated a U-turn with the intent to stop them.
During that time, a vehicle turning off North Railway onto Main Street made what Hunt described as “an inappropriate lane change” and “kind of clipped one of the motorcycles, causing an accident there.”
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital by ambulance, and his motorcycle was towed from the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a $174 ticket for "proceeding before safe to do so." The motorcyclist received a $203 fine for driving imprudently due to excessive speed.
