Both the cities of Winkler and Morden will be conducting tests today of their respective outdoor weather warning siren systems. The tests will begin at noon, with Morden also testing its CodeRED system.
The outdoor sirens are designed to alert citizens that are outdoors of dangerous events such as tornadoes, chemical spills and large-scale fires so they can seek shelter indoors or shelter in place.
In the event of a real emergency, and the siren sounds, residents are asked to go indoors immediately and listen to CFAM Radio 950, Countr88 and/or Eagle 93.5 for information and updates.
The Winkler and Morden tests are in addition to a scheduled Alert Ready system test scheduled for 1:55pm Wednesday afternoon.
