RCMP have arrested a woman following a wild series of events on May 5 involving a U-Haul, stolen chainsaws, damaged property, and a police pursuit.

The incident began around 3:05 p.m. when police received a report of a suspicious man carrying two chainsaws who ran toward a U-Haul and fled the scene in a dangerous manner.

Olds Mounties located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on Highway 587, but the U-Haul drove through the entrance gate at Red Lodge Provincial Park, causing damage.

Innisfail and Didsbury RCMP, along with Police Dog Services, joined the search. By 3:44 p.m., another complaint came in reporting damage to farmland and fencing in the area.

Police later found the U-Haul abandoned near Range Road 12 and Highway 587, with a woman walking away from the scene. She was arrested, and with help from local residents, police located and arrested additional suspects.

A search of the U-Haul uncovered stolen items, including a tool bag and the two chainsaws.
