A two-month-long drug trafficking investigation has led to multiple charges and a significant seizure of illegal drugs, weapons, and counterfeit materials.
The Alberta RCMP Community Response Team and Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), with assistance from various RCMP units and Calgary Police, arrested two Calgary residents, 50-year-old Duane Phillips and a 38-year-old woman on May 1 at Calgary's Sunridge Mall.
Following their arrest, police searched a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, and two residences in Calgary’s Livingston community.
The searches resulted in the seizure of:

271 grams of fentanyl

20 grams of methamphetamine

22 oxycodone pills
-
A prohibited firearm and ammunition
-
Over $6,800 in counterfeit Canadian currency

60 fraudulent documents and equipment used to produce them

Scales, score sheets, money counter, and cell phones

Duane Phillips and the woman face several joint charges, including drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of counterfeit money. Phillips also faces multiple weapons charges and firearm-related offences. The woman is additionally charged with five counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Phillips remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane court on May 6. The woman was released and is set to appear in Stony Plain court on June 24.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
