The City of Weyburn is inviting the community to their Downtown Revitalization Open House this Friday at City Hall. Attendees will be able to view conceptual plans, share feedback with the project team, and participate in a public survey.
Communications coordinator for the city, Paige Tenbult, explains this is the final phase in public engagement for the downtown revitalization project, before the final master plan is reviewed by the city and council.
“The concepts were shaped by earlier stakeholder feedback with downtown businesses through the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and now it's time for the broader community to weigh into these draft concepts.”
The plan is set to include features like wider sidewalks, green spaces, and curb extensions. Tenbult explains these features and more can made our downtown more vibrant.
“Downtown is really the heart of any city. And this revitalization plan aims to make it more vibrant, walkable, inviting, and to increase the support for local businesses and community life in our downtown core.”
The open house will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to all community members. Those who can’t attend will be able to participate in the online survey and view the concept plans on the City of Weyburn website.
While attendees are downtown, they can also participate in the final day of Wey-Clean week which is focused on the area. The city will be showing their appreciation for those helping out Friday and throughout the week.
