Estevan Southern Impact, the local armwrestling club, is ramping up fundraising efforts as members prepare to compete at Provincials in Saskatoon and Nationals in Regina. Funds raised will help with the purchase of competition-grade tables—essential equipment for training and hosting sanctioned events. These specialized tables are height-adjustable and built to exacting standards, allowing for proper hand grips, elbow pads, and peg placement, ensuring athletes can compete safely and fairly.

Moose Jaw tournament – May 10
The club is heading to Moose Jaw this weekend for a tournament that doubles as a fundraiser for Nationals. The event starts at 3:00 p.m. on May 10, giving competitors another chance to hone their skills while generating support for their travel costs.
Burger night at The Flats – May 17
A burger fundraiser is set for Friday, May 17 at The Flats in Estevan. For $25, attendees can choose between a bacon cheeseburger or a buffalo chicken burger, served with two sides. The event runs from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is open to all ages in both the restaurant and bar areas.
Provincials in Saskatoon – May 31
Provincials take place on May 31 at the Heritage Inn in Saskatoon. The event is open to anyone interested in competing—no prior experience necessary. Participants simply need to attend weigh-ins, pay the entry fee, and they’re eligible to compete.
Nationals in Regina – July 4–7
Nationals are scheduled for July 4–7 at the Turvey Centre in Regina. It’s the first time in years Saskatchewan has hosted the national championship, and Estevan Southern Impact is aiming to send a strong crew. Club member Desiree DaSilva, who also sits on the national planning committee, hinted at a few surprises planned for the event—but says they’re keeping the details under wraps for now.
