Thursday, May 8 is McHappy Day, and McDonald’s restaurants across Central Alberta will donate a portion of proceeds from all food and beverage sales to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and other local children’s charities.
Sunny 94 has been a proud partner of McHappy Day for more than 15 years. Drive-home announcer Adam Hamilton, a longtime supporter of the event, said it’s a cause close to his heart.
“Ronald McDonald House is such an important resource in Central Alberta,” said Hamilton. “I have many friends and family members who have needed their services. In fact, a good friend of mine is staying there right now. He and his wife just had their first babies—twins—born several weeks premature. The girls will be in the NICU for at least 10 weeks, so having a place to stay close by is one less thing for them to worry about.”

One of the largest beneficiaries in the region is the Red Deer Ronald McDonald House, located next to Red Deer Regional Hospital. The facility provides families with accommodation, meals, mental health and wellness supports, and more while their child receives medical treatment.
According to McDonald’s Canada, one in four Canadians has either stayed at an RMHC location or knows someone who has. Over the past 30 years, McHappy Day has raised more than $100 million nationwide.
