Day 2 of the 2025 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft was held on Thursday.
Following Kash Elke being selected by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the first round on Wednesday, two of his teammates from the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos were also selected.
In the fourth round (81st Overall) the Portland Winterhawks selected defenceman Kohen Ruedig. This past season, Ruedig had 40 points (19G-21A) in 29 games with the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos.
In the 2023-24 season, he had 7 points (1G-6A) in 28 games with the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos.
Kohen will be the second member of the Ruedig family to join the Winterhawks.
Kayd Reudig spent his first full season with the Winterhawks in 2024-25, collecting 22 points (4G-18A) in 64 regular season games and added 3 points (1G-2A) in 17 games during the 2025 playoffs.
In the 12th round (271st selection) the Lethbridge Hurricanes picked Goaltender Cohen Kuntz from Muenster.
This past season with the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos, Kuntz had a 7-8-2 record with a 3.67 GAA (Goals Against Average) and a .867 SV% (Save Percentage).
