The public has the opportunity to gain insight into the bold steps being taken for the future of Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park tonight (May 9) at The Links of GlenEagles, 100 Gleneagles Dr.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. in the Terrace Room. The program gets underway at 7 p.m.
The event will feature updates on key initiatives, including plans to connect the Trans Canada Trail through the park and extend links to Calgary and Cochrane. Guests will also hear about the launch of an Outdoor Leadership School in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education, aimed at inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
Jeromy Farkas, CEO of the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation, says the event also provides a perfect opportunity to acknowledge some of the members of their team and celebrate the impact of community support for Alberta's natural heritage.
"We're so grateful that the community stepped up in such a big way to support us. That means we have so much momentum going into all the other exciting things we're doing."
This includes the unveiling of details for the Historic Ranch Renewal Project.
"Not many people know it, but Glenbow Ranch is a working ranch. We've had several hundred head of cattle. It's been that way for the last 100 years, and we’re hoping to maintain that for the next 100," says Farkas.
"We're inviting Cochranites, Calgarians, and everyone in Alberta to join us for this report to the community. It’s going to be really exciting to acknowledge some of the members of the team and celebrate the impact of community support on Alberta's natural heritage."
Remarks will be delivered by Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Peter Guthrie, Cochrane Mayor Jeff Genung, and members of the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation team.
