Five men have been arrested following a targeted sweep by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU) in the city’s West End.

On Thursday, May 8, the CEU—supported by East District Community Support Units—conducted the operation in response to multiple community concerns, according to a release from the WPS.

Police say that officers arrested five men between the ages of 27 and 53 for obtaining sexual services for consideration. All were released on undertakings, as outlined in the Criminal Code.

During the sweep, individuals involved in the sex trade were also offered access to community support and resources.

Police say these ongoing outreach efforts aim to address exploitation and ensure community safety.
