McHappy Day in Okotoks raised over $36,000 on May 8, in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
“It was really great, we had a lot of volunteers, and we raised a lot for the Ronald McDonald House,” said Kristina Cockerill, Market People Lead.
Throughout the day, a portion of all sales was allocated to support families across the county with injured or sick children.
“There’s so many things they do with the money. They have a thing called the ‘Magic Room’ where they have toys for when the kids celebrate a milestone,” Cockerill said. “It makes me tear up every time I talk about it, because if you see it, it's truly magical.”
The amount raised this year in Okotoks increased by $10,000 from last year.
Cockerill attributes the jump to the staff.
“Our team this year just stepped up, staff were truly amazing and really excited about the day,” she said.

Without the support of the community, the success of the day wouldn’t have been possible.
“The community came out and helped us raise the money and they were just awesome the whole time,” Cockerill said.
