As Estevan prepares for Economic Development Week, the Estevan Chamber of Commerce is ramping up member engagement with a full May calendar and a strong call for feedback.
Executive Director Merissa Scarlett joined the SUN 102 Morning Show to talk about upcoming events, member outreach, and how the Chamber is connecting with the community.
Coffee Talk draws a crowd
The May Coffee Talk, held in partnership with the City’s new Community Development Coordinator Becca Foord, drew strong attendance and participation.
“Oh yeah, it was fantastic,” said Scarlett. “We probably registered about 26, but I know we had more in the room that showed up, so always register. It's free to attend but always register. I was happy to see who was in the room and the participation from the businesses and councillors. Everybody in the room made it a fantastic session.”
Celebrating Economic Development Week
Scarlett and the Chamber are partnering with the City for Economic Development Week, which runs May 13–17. A free community BBQ will be held Tuesday, May 14 from 11:30 to 1:00 at Centennial Park.
Annual survey open until May 16
Chamber members — and even non-members — are encouraged to complete the organization’s annual survey before the May 16 deadline.
“It is a way to provide feedback on what we're doing and where we're going,” said Scarlett. “This feedback will be used by our board and myself to adjust and really prioritize certain events.”
The survey is anonymous, and Scarlett emphasized the importance of honest feedback.
“Please be kind and respectful, but let me know what you think. If there's something we're not doing or you think we could be doing better, just let us know and all of it will be taken into consideration.”

May 22 double-header: Lunch & Learn and farewell social
Two Chamber events are scheduled for May 22. The day begins with a Lunch and Learn at the Estevan Art Gallery & Museum, focusing on volunteer recruitment and board development for non-profits. The session, presented by Southeast District, is open to both Chamber members ($15) and non-members ($25).
That evening, the Chamber will host a social gathering at TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course to recognize and thank MP Dr. Robert Kitchen for his 10 years of service to the region. The evening includes drinks and networking in a relaxed setting. Tickets are $45 for members and $55 for non-members.
