Many have been left wondering, what is underneath those covers?
The mystery will be solved today (May 10) with the unveiling of three new public art installations at the Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza, located next to The Station on Railway Street.
The significant cultural milestone will be celebrated from 4 to 6 p.m. with the unveiling, artist talks, a cultural performance, and remarks from the Cochrane Arts Task Force. It’s a community-wide celebration of storytelling, belonging and creative expression, and all residents are invited to attend.
Artists Malann Klassen and Lara Kruger collaborated on two of the pieces, while the third was created by Karen Ho Fatt.

A $750,000 federal grant from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), awarded in May 2022, helped bring the expanded vision for the plaza to life—doubling the original budget to $1.5 million.
Additional enhancements made possible included free public Wi-Fi, colour-controllable ambient lighting, more built-in seating, and secure bike lockers.
