Winnipegger singer-songwriter and producer Fresh IE is not only busy with a new album out, but also a special concert in the works that he's asking for your help.
He is selling his full music catalogue, which includes 29 albums, 26 music videos and two documentaries for $50 to do a big concert and share his story at Headingley Correctional Centre.
"It's funny because before I got an email from the chaplain asking us, we were already getting an inkling from the Lord through affirmation and confirmation from different people that that's what we were supposed to do," Fresh IE said.
While he is excited for the opportunity to minister to inmates, they don't have the budget for the show. "I said, 'Don't worry. We're going to reach out to our family, friends and ministry and see if we can get some funding available for production.'"
The goal is to bring in a team, including other artists and worship leaders for an impactful event. "Just spread the Gospel in the Headingley facility."
A digital download of his full music catalogue with all funds going to the show at Headingley, can be made here.
"It's safe, secure and all the money goes towards that so we can take a team and go in and really speak into the lives of the inmates and to the staff at Headingley facility."
Fresh IE doesn't want this to be a one-time show, but has big dreams. "I feel like we're going to go to all the prisons in Canada and take this model, especially in this time. We're living in the end times and I think the Gospel needs to go into those places, the dark places, without any fear and share the love of Jesus."
The goal is to raise $5,000 for a full team and have the concert in June 2025.
Besides the upcoming concert, Fresh IE recently released a new album, Wind of God, with a different sound. "It's my first full-length vocal album because I'm known to be a rapper. But this album is all vocal, singing worship pop music with a little bit of folk influence in it."
He hopes that after hearing the album, listeners will have a new fire for God. "Life got tough for me. I was isolated and alone for a little while and then finally, I got back into the heart of worship with me and the Lord. I began to spend nights in my bedroom, reading the Word and worshiping the Lord, and I found my praise back."
One song on the project, called "So Alive," is written with those going through a hard time in mind. "It's for anybody who's going through a hard time, whether it's with children, marriage or finances. The Lord is our source and our strength and our song. In Him we have a life and more abundantly."
