The 2025 season is now open for camping at Nickle Lake Regional Park.

Park Manager Darren Wheeler said there were already plenty of people taking advantage of the beach in the heat this past weekend, and seasonal campers have already started moving into their campsites.

Construction is moving along on the facilities adjacent to the Grub Shack near the beach, with about six weeks remaining until the opening of the new washrooms.

"We're about halfway through or better, so the walls are up, all of the concrete's been poured, all the plumbing, electrical has been done. This week they're planning on doing most of the rough-ins. We've got to wait about another month before we can treat the floor with the epoxy coating and get it ready to go," Wheeler explained.

He said with the rain, things are nice and green for the season opener.

"We're ready to go for the season. We're hoping everybody's gonna come out and enjoy the weekend and sit around the fire and stay warm, stay dry. Come on out and enjoy it."

The rest of the washrooms are open, with many now featuring a fresh coat of paint. Beach-goers, for now, are still able to use the washrooms near the Canoe and Kayak Club, not far from the beach.

Non-seasonal campers hoping to make a reservation can go online or call Nikki at the park, at 306-842-7522.

Wheeler said the next project to get underway is construction on the sports court, which will facilitate pickleball, volleyball, and basketball.

"Hopefully we'll have that going by the end of June."
