The Victoria Day long weekend, also known as the May long weekend, is often most Albertans' first weekend of camping.

If you're thinking of getting away and booking a campsite through Alberta Parks, there are still quite a few options, although you may have to travel a bit.

Locally, Sandy McNabb, out past the Turner Valley side of Diamond Valley, still has some openings.

Maclean Creek by Bragg Creek still has some available. Little Bow and the Little Bow Reservoir are also open.

Etherington Creek and Indian Graves in Kananaskis Country opened up on Thursday, May 15.

Chain Lakes opened a week ago.

Reminder, if you plan on camping or stopping in K-Country, you need a Conservation Pass.

The good news is they haven't gone up in price since they were first instituted in 2021.

They cost $15 per day or $90 for the year. You can purchase them online
