Ponoka is kicking off the start of Recreation and Parks Month with a spring festival on Friday at the Lion Centennial Park from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The second annual family-friendly event will have great activities and games all throughout the evening.

Andrew Jones, the town manager of parks, recreation and facilities lists some of the attractions.

“(We will have) bouncy houses, glitter tattoos, food trucks, balloon animals, all sorts of yard games, and our spray park is open and ready for use, so lots of great activities are taking place on June 13," said Jones.

New this year is Story Time in the Park, hosted by the Ponoka Jubilee library.

The hope is to have over 200 attendees to enjoy the June weather.

“We did move it to a Friday evening so families could get out and enjoy the beautiful June weather and not only attend the Spring Festival but enjoy all the activities the park has to offer,” said Jones.

The town spray park will be open for use during the festival and the play structures are always there for the children to enjoy.
