A 28-year-old woman is in custody after assaulting an officer.
On Sunday at around 3 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Garry Street for the report of a crash involving a parked vehicle.
When they arrived, they found a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze on its roof. Police say the vehicle had collided with a parked 2022 Audi A5, causing it to roll over. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The 28-year-old driver and her 18-year-old male passenger were both checked by paramedics but did not suffer serious injuries.
Winnipeg police say the driver showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody as a result.
While being searched at police headquarters, officers allege the woman physically assaulted a Central Processing Officer, leaving them with a lower-body injury.
The officer discovered and seized a folding knife and approximately three grams of cocaine packaged for sale and cash.
The driver is facing a long list of charges, including assault of a peace officer, possession of a weapon, operation of a conveyance while impaired to any degree by BAC or drug or any combination of both and failure to comply with a demand.
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
