Alberta Parks has sent out an update on road closures in Kananaskis Country due to the G7 Summit coming up next month.

The Highway 40 South gate will remain closed to all motor vehicles until June 21.

Normally, the gates are opened on June 15th every year after being closed since December 1.

Due to the G7 Summit taking place in Kananaskis Village from June 15 to 17, only cyclists and hikers will be allowed on Highway 40, but only till they reach the Highwood Pass.

There will also be an increase in security and signage posted.

Here's a map of the complete closure in what the RCMP are calling a controlled access zone.  The public will be restricted from June 10-18.

Highway 40 is expected to reopen fully on June 21.

Reminder that you need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass to park anywhere in K-Country and the Bow Valley. They run you $90 annually or $15 per day.
