Estevan Fire Rescue had a busy week, with calls coming in for a number of accidents, even if recent rains kept the southeast relatively fire-free.
On May 12, at 4:00 p.m., crews headed south of the city to deal with a grass fire. After responding, crews extinguished the fire with no injuries or damage. They found the cause of the fire to be a tree connecting with power lines.
In the early hours of May 13 at 12:30 AM, a crew was alerted to a commercial fire alarm in the south central part of the city. Crews found that no emergency was occurring, chalking it up to a faulty alarm system.
Later that morning at 2:46 a.m., a crew reported an electrical hazard in the south central part of the city. They found that tree branches were in contact with a power line. Crews secured the area until SaskPower arrived on the scene.
On May 14 at 2:34 a.m., crews rushed to battle a structure fire occurring in the south end of the city. Crews extinguished the fire, though the structure was a total loss. Some minor injuries were reported from the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Later that day at 4:56 p.m., crews were sent to a 2-vehicle collision on the northeast end of the city. Crews responded but could not locate the incident. They later learned that the incident was minor and both vehicles were able to leave the scene.
The next day, May 15, at around 8:50 a.m., a crew reported to another 2-vehicle collision, this time in the Northeast area of the city. Crews worked to assist those involved at the scene, with no injuries and minor damage being reported.
On May 17 at 6:00 a.m., a crew was called to deal with a commercial fire alarm in the Northeast area of the city. Crews found there was no emergency, with the alarm due to a cooking-related incident. The crew helped out with ventilation and resetting the alarm system.
Ending their week of work on May 18, at 3:30 p.m., a crew was present following a vehicle vs deer collision North of the city. Crews responded and reported no injuries from the incident.
