Engines will be revving and mud flying as the Miami Tractor Pull & Mud Bog/Car Show Weekend rolls back into town on Saturday and Sunday, delivering two days packed with horsepower, family fun, and down-home excitement.

Organized by local enthusiast Russ Suderman, the event is now in its fourth year and continues to build momentum, attracting people from across Manitoba—and even beyond.

Saturday: Tractor pulls that pack a punch

The weekend kicks off on Saturday at 1:00 PM with the fan-favourite Tractor Pull. Both stock and high-powered custom rigs will put their torque to the test, with a special stock class open to everyday drivers.

“If you can drive your truck to the show, you can register,” said Suderman. “We’re going to have a gas class and a diesel class—250 bucks, winner go home.”

And yes, Suderman himself entered last year—and won.

“Anyone can run their truck and win,” he added. “I ran mine last year and won.”

From roaring RPMs to the “putt-putt” charm of vintage pullers, there’s something for every gearhead.

“Some of the tractors are slow, but they got torque and they pull—and it’s amazing,” said Suderman. “They’re 70 years or older, but still running strong.”

Sunday: mud, cars, and controlled chaos

On Sunday, the action heats up with the Mud Bog—a crowd-pleaser featuring modified trucks barreling through thick mud for glory. It all starts at 1:00 PM, but Cars & Coffee gets things rolling at 11:00 AM with a classic and custom car showcase AND free coffee.

“Come in, show your car off,” said Suderman. “And then people walking into the event can check them out. Some may even stick around and catch the mud bog.”

Organized in partnership with Manitoba Mud Racers, the mud bog includes multiple classes and is professionally timed and scored.

“They’re great to deal with,” Suderman said. “It makes Sunday a little easier for us.”

Fun for the whole family

Admission is $15, and kids under 12 get in free—with plenty of kid-friendly features throughout the weekend.

“We’ve got a bounce castle running the whole day,” Suderman shared. “You can throw the kids behind the stands, we’ll have students there to watch over them.”

Other family events include a county toss and the dash for cash, making it a full weekend of entertainment for all ages.

“If your kids like big, fast, loud things—this is the place to be,” Suderman said. “Boys, girls, young and old—they all love the horsepower.”

Why it matters

The event is a revival of a tradition that once thrived in the area. Thanks to Suderman and a group of passionate locals from the Power Toboggan Club, Miami is once again home to one of the most exciting weekends on the rural event calendar.

“My father-in-law used to put this on years ago,” said Suderman. “Once I met my wife and we got involved with the club, we said, ‘Heck, let’s fire this back up.’”

Whether you're bringing a truck to compete, a kid to bounce, or just your camera to capture the action, Miami is the place to be this weekend.

“Bring your truck, bring your kids, bring the whole family,” Suderman said with a grin.
