Cochrane is set to honour its older residents with a full week of free events and activities as part of Seniors’ Week, running June 2 to 8.

Organized by Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) with the help of community partners and sponsors, the celebration will include workshops, health and wellness sessions, entertainment, luncheons, and games, all geared toward residents aged 50 and up.

“Seniors’ Week is our chance to celebrate the incredible contributions of older adults in Cochrane,” said Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS. “We’re proud to offer such a diverse and engaging week of activities that celebrate and support our seniors.”

The festivities begin Sunday, June 1 with a BBQ luncheon at the Cochrane Legion featuring live music from the Good Vibes Memory Choir, music bingo, and the launch of Cochrane’s Age-Friendly Action Plan. The event will also unveil new Memory Kits—developed in collaboration with the D.O.T.S. Committee, Cochrane Public Library and Vital Minds Psychology, designed to support individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.

A highlight of the week is the Seniors’ Resource Fair on Saturday, May 31 at the Cochrane Alliance Church. The event will feature local service providers and expert speakers sharing tips on aging well.

To ensure accessibility, Cochrane’s Local On-Demand Transit (COLT) will offer free rides to those aged 60 and over throughout the week.

“We’re grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and partners for their ongoing commitment to seniors' well-being, not only during this special week but year-round,” said Krawec.
