The doors of Youth for Christ are going to open for a special event this week.

Tuesday, May 27, is the second annual YFC Film Festival where youth from the film and media program showcase what they've been working on over the last year. "We've created seven different short films," said Caleb Mogilevsky, YFC's film and media program director.

"The youth have been actors, producers, and directors. They've been behind the camera, in front of the camera, editing, writing, and they're excited to show off their work," he said.

Besides seeing the short films, viewers will be able to hear about the impact Youth for Christ is making in the community. "You're going to get some inside details on how they were produced and maybe even some testimonies from youth that their lives have been changed through this program."

Gearing up for the event, Mogilevsky says everyone is excited. "We're going to be getting the big screen out and the sound system. We're going to have the red carpet rolled out, and it's going to be a great experience for the youth. They've put a lot of work into these films, and they want to be able to share that with others. So they're really pumped to be able to do that."

Besides seeing the finished films, Mogilevsky says he's seen the youth grow in other aspects. "It's been amazing to see their hard work and dedication. But not only that, just how much they've grown personally and spiritually through this time. We don't just make films for the fun of it, although it is really fun. We make films to glorify God and to be able to teach them about who God is and about His story too."

The YFC Film Festival will feature films covering all sorts of different topics. "We have a comedy film, but we cover deep themes of grief, forgiveness, and all sorts of things. Whether it's on the funny side, or even those themed in forgiveness. We also have some that are more personal to some of the youth's lives."

Mogilevsky says an event like this is a great opportunity to bring out the creativity. "It brings out their creative elements and we have a lot of special, unique youth with of different backgrounds and what they bring to the table altogether, working as a team. It's something truly special."

While the event is free, donations are accepted to keep the film and media program running strong. RSVP to the YFC Film Festival here

The Youth for Christ Film Festival is on May 27, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at 333 King Street.
