We have a local winner in the province's 'Split the Pot' lottery.

Gerry Gendron of High River recently picked up a $1000 cheque from Cathy Couey with the High River District Health Care Foundation.

The 'Split the Pot' lottery supports health care facilities across the province, including the High River Regional Hospital. They just recently moved to monthly prizes.

The lottery works like a 50-50 draw, but with a twist. 60 per cent of the money goes to support health care while the other 40 per cent is split between different winners, so you have a greater chance to share in the winnings.

Gendron was one of the lucky winners in the early bird draw.

Winners are picked every Wednesday and Gendron is looking forward to hopefully winning again.

You can be specific with which hospitals and foundations you choose to support, so by clicking on the High River and Nanton locations you will end up supporting the High River District Health Care Foundation.
