The municipal election is coming up this October, and now is the time to start the process of filling out the proper forms.

Nominations for the municipal election are currently open, but there are some steps that need to be completed prior to the resident being able to collect campaign contributions and be added to the ballot.

As part of the nomination process, there is paperwork that needs to be completed, the person running needs to collect signatures from residents, and a deposit must be paid.

The Municipal election will determine the Mayor and Councilors in each municipal riding, who will all serve from 2025 until 2029.

These nomination papers must be completed and filed with the Town's Elections Office no later than 12 p.m. on September 22, 2025.

Due to the Municipal Government being the government closest to the people, the municipal office provides an opportunity to help shape the future of the community by setting policy, adopting bylaws, and creating strategic priorities.

New for this upcoming election, prospective candidates are now required to file a notice of intent to run with the Elections Office, which must be filed prior to accepting campaign contributions or incurring campaign expenses.

As usual, those interested in running for municipal office must be a resident of the Town or County for the six consecutive months immediately preceding Nomination Day.
