Winkler Bible Camp is nearly booked solid for summer 2025, with over 1,500 campers registered just hours after opening. With only a few spots left and new facilities ready to welcome guests, Camp Director Dale Wiebe says the season is shaping up to be one of their biggest yet.

“Some of the best stories we hear come from kids who arrive without friends and leave with lifelong memories,” - Dale Wiebe, Director at Winkler Bible Camp.

Camp Spots Filling Fast

“Registration opened back in March, and within two hours we had over 1,500 campers signed up,” Wiebe says. While many of the most popular weeks—particularly for siblings and cousins hoping to attend together—filled up quickly, there are still around 200 spots available. “They’ll be full by the time summer starts,” Wiebe adds.

Despite the rush, Wiebe encourages parents not to worry if their child doesn’t know anyone. “Some of the best stories we hear come from kids who arrive without friends and leave with lifelong memories,” he shares.

Family fun days coming soon

While the camp runs all summer, community members can get a taste of the fun during the Family Fun Days on May 31st and June 1st. The event is open to the public with a $5 admission that includes a free hot dog. (Other food and drink items available for purchase).

“It’s not a fundraiser—it’s just a great day for families,” says Wiebe. There will be plenty of food available in the dining hall, and activities across the campgrounds, including water sports and the giant swing.

New bathrooms and a beloved red barn

After months of hard work, new bathroom facilities are nearly complete. “One is 99% done and the other is about 90% there,” says Wiebe. “Our first group will be using the new space by this Friday.”

Meanwhile, the iconic red barn once located at the corner of Hwy 14 and 428 has found a new home at the camp, thanks to a generous donation from Triple E. It now sits within the camp’s petting zoo area.

Although the barn is not yet operational, there are plans to add electricity and water once funds become available. “We still need to raise a couple hundred thousand dollars to pay off the bathroom upgrades first,” Wiebe explains.

Meet the animals

Visitors to the petting zoo will be greeted by familiar furry faces—and a few new ones. “We just had our first baby of the season born Sunday night—a long-haired lamb,” Wiebe says. Camp favourites like the friendly alpaca are also back, charming guests with his curious nature. “He’ll walk right up to your face and leave you wondering if he’ll spit or smile—but he’s harmless!”

Whether you're looking for a summer camp for your kids or a fun day out for the whole family, Winkler Bible Camp offers a blend of adventure, community, and spiritual growth.
