The Weyburn Humane Society received a $6,438.50 Charitable Gaming Grant from the SLGA in the fourth quarter, most of which was 25 per cent of the last year's vehicle raffle, with a small portion from bake sales.

"We're so fortunate to be able to have this money come in because. It does help with all the operating costs at the shelter from everything to paying wages to buying food for the animals, and our vet costs are through the roof just a little bit of maintenance here and there that we have to do, so it's great to have this money come back to us," commented WHS President Beverly Paul.

This year's vehicle raffle is for a 2025 Jeep Compass North 4x4.

"This year is being done with paper tickets, which seems to be the more preferred way for people to buy tickets. Last year it was online and we had a lot of feedback that people didn't really care to do that. So we've got 2,000 tickets available again this year at $100 each," she noted. "The vehicle is, as far as I'm concerned, just a gorgeous vehicle."

Three draws will be made on August 23rd at Weyburn Dodge, the first two for cash prizes of $3,000 and $2,000.

"We'll draw for the cash prizes first and the people that win those, their entry goes back into the barrel for a chance at the vehicle, so you kind of get a double chance at the vehicle if you do happen to win one of the cash prizes."

"As far as your chances of winning, like one in 2,000 for a $50,000 vehicle, is pretty awesome, I would say."

Tickets are available at the animal shelter and Pet Valu. They also have plans to park it for ticket sales at a few events this summer.

Most recently, board members were on site at the RONA Spring Home Show & Networking Event earlier this month.

"That was really a very good exposure to be there and we thank Jeff for allowing us to come in at last minute."

She said they take the Jeep to Pet Valu when they host adoption events, and the next big event they'll be at is the Soo Line Cruisers Car Club's annual Show & Shine Car Show on June 14th. They'll be at the Weyburn Fair Days and at a special event at Weyburn Dodge on August 9th.

For the most part, the vehicle is available for viewing at the animal shelter.
