Stand up and look down. Do those tootsies of yours need help? It’s important to “understand” how vital it is to take proper care of your feet. Luckily for Weyburn, Tansi Toes offers advanced foot care services to make sure our hard-working feet get the attention they deserve. Owner Mikayla Edy-Lizuck talked about what her inspiration was for starting Tansi Toes.
“It started with a desire to assist and help others. It kinda happened gradually over time, and was the best scenario for my particular situation. I was able to combine my two educations into a very fulfilling business.”
That’s right, Mikayla has 2 certifications, a registered Psychiatric nurse and Advanced Esthetician. Owning her own business also works with her other priorities. Mikayla explained.
“I have a 3-year-old daughter and having a business allows me to continue to help my clients and still be home for her in the evenings. Being an indigenous independent business owner allows me the flexibility to focus on my family, that’s important to me.”
So what makes Tansi Toes different from those who offer the same services? Mikayla explained.
“We’re an Advanced Foot Care Nursing practice, and what sets us apart is the extensive training I have taken to care for individuals who require advanced footcare. My clients can visit me inside Ice & Ink in downtown Weyburn, or I can come to them, in the home, or on the farm. My profession has strict guidelines that must be followed, so I pride myself on being very thorough with the sanitation and infection control procedures.”
Mikayla also goes “one step further” with her clients. She continued.
“I provide my clients with education when they are here. I take the time to explain how their gait and how they walk can affect them. I inspect and educate on proper footwear, as well as proper home care. I am upfront and honest, and make sure they understand every procedure. The relationship between myself and my clientele is 100% confidential and professional, that helps me build strong relationships.”
And what about this chair that people are talking about? Mikayla explained.
“That was one of the best investments I have made for Tansi Toes. It has 4 electric motors, allowing me to adjust it so the client is very comfortable. People love it!”
Mikayla talked about the future of Tansi Toes.
“Right now, my priority is to encourage people to stop and say “hello” to their feet. That’s exactly what Tansi means in Cree, hi or hello. I want people to see how important feet are to us. They carry us everywhere, and our feet have a strong connection with our entire bodies! We need to take care of them.”
Proper foot health is more than a comfort issue, it’s a smart way to avoid future complications. Step into Tansi Toes and learn how important proper footcare is to your overall health.
