The R.M. of Morris is advising Rosenort residents to stay away from a portion of Pleasant Valley Road between the dike and River Road South now that a portion of the road has collapsed into the river. Currently two residences have lost road access due to the damage.
Information provided by the Municipality Monday afternoon noted recent rains raised the level of water inside Rosenort placing pressure on the culverts, and the stretch of road impacted crosses the Morris river within the diversion protected area in Rosenort.
The impacted section of Road 30 NE was first closed on Friday, and the river has continued to wash out the ground underneath the low level crossing. According to a social media post by the Municipality, the section of road is completely impassable and taking an alternative route is required.
The R.M. has reached out to Manitoba Water Infrastructure and Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, with both departments having personnel investigating the failure today. According to the municipality, it appears the culverts have failed leading to the erosion of the road.
Echoing a social media post by the Rosenort Fire Department, the R.M. stressed the roadway is unstable, and everyone is asked to please stay away.
As more information is available, the municipality will share it with residents.
Meanwhile, Road 29 NE between PR 422 and River Road South is also closed.
