Police responded to a wide range of incidents in Estevan over the weekend, including weapons complaints involving youths, impaired driving, public intoxication and reports of suspicious activity across the city.

On May 23, police received a report that new women’s clothing, with tags still attached, was found in a parking lot in the central part of the city. Police said the clothing may be connected to a possible online order. Anyone missing such an order is asked to contact EPS to identify the items.

Officers responded to a report of a male who entered an east Estevan tow business’s storage yard after being refused access. The man was spoken to, and the misunderstanding was resolved. He was warned about his actions and advised to follow proper procedures in the future.

Police also responded to a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in the east end of the city. The collision was deemed non-reportable to police, and officers assisted the drivers in exchanging insurance information.

A possible hit-and-run collision was reported downtown. A vehicle backing out of a parking stall struck another vehicle as it passed by, causing minor damage. The driver then left the scene. A witness followed the driver and spoke to him after he stopped. The driver said he didn’t realize he had struck another vehicle. Insurance information was exchanged.

Police received a report of a male walking along Highway 39 in the dark. Members attended, but the male was not located.

A report of an individual going through vehicles in the south-central part of the city was also received. Officers patrolled the area but did not locate a suspect. Anyone who believes they were a victim is asked to contact EPS with a statement and a list of missing items.

A local business reported a female who refused to leave after being asked to do so. Officers attended and informed her that she was not welcome at the business. She left without incident.

On May 24, EPS received several reports of a male youth shooting people with a pellet gun and threatening to shoot others at a park. The youth was arrested without incident and charged with multiple counts of assault. He was remanded in custody.

In a separate report, youths were allegedly shot at with an airsoft rifle by someone driving past in a vehicle. One youth was struck but not injured. The matter remains under investigation.

Police received two separate reports of unresponsive males in downtown Estevan. Officers attended both scenes and found the individuals to be heavily intoxicated. Each was released to the care of a sober adult.

Loud noises, described as similar to gunshots, were reported in the central part of the city. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the source. No suspicious activity was observed.

Officers attended a domestic disturbance and mediated a resolution. One party left the residence for the night.

A traffic stop led to a male failing a roadside screening test for alcohol. He was transported to EPS headquarters to provide a breath sample but refused to comply. He was charged with impaired driving and refusal to provide a breath sample. The male was lodged in cells until sober and will appear in court at a later date. His vehicle was impounded and his licence was suspended.

Police are investigating a report of an individual breaching release conditions by contacting someone he is prohibited from communicating with.

On May 25, police arrested a 24-year-old Estevan man for breaching his release order by entering a licensed premises, contrary to his court-imposed conditions. He was processed and released to appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date.

Members responded to Highway 47 south of the city after a report of a male lying in a ditch. Officers located the man and found him to be intoxicated. He was transported home and released to the care of a sober person.

Police also responded to a residence where an unwanted guest refused to leave. The individual left without incident upon police arrival.

A report of a female causing a disturbance at a local park was received, but the individual was not located.

Finally, a noisy party at a residence in the north end of the city was reported during the night shift. Officers attended and warned the occupants under the noise bylaw.
