For the first time, the annual ceremonial review for the 2512 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps will be held in Cochrane, rather than its usual location at Mewata Armoury in downtown Calgary.

The event, often described as a "cadet graduation," is a significant milestone for the youth involved and will take place on June 21 at 2:00 p.m. on the dry pad of the SLS Centre's curling rink. Traditionally a private event attended by friends and family, this year’s ceremony will be open to the public, offering Cochrane residents a rare opportunity to witness the discipline, pride, and dedication of local cadets.

The ceremony will include a formal parade and inspection, with cadets aged 12 to 18 participating in full dress uniform. It will also serve as an awards presentation, recognizing the achievements and progress of the cadets over the past year.

Approximately 40 cadets, both young men and women, are currently part of the local group. The program is inclusive, welcoming all youth within the age range without exclusion.

Seating will be available for attendees, though space may be limited. Spectators are also welcome to stand or walk by to take in the event, whether for a moment or for the entire ceremony.

Organizers hope the move to Cochrane will not only provide a new backdrop for the event but also help raise awareness of the cadet program in the community.
