A 64-year-old man is dead and another man is seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision early yesterday morning in the RM of Stanley.

Around 6:15 a.m. on May 26th, Carman and Manitou RCMP responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Road 5N and Road 25W. Upon their arrival, they found local fire crews and EMS already on scene, tending to the occupants of two vehicles, which were found in the ditch.

The 64-year-old driver from the RM of Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 41-year-old man from Morden, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the initial investigation, the collision happened when the 64-year-old driver was traveling east on Road 5N and struck the other SUV, which was heading south on Road 25W. The intersection is uncontrolled, with no stop signs in either direction.

Pembina Valley RCMP, along with an RCMP Traffic Analyst and the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), continue to investigate.
