Roughly 50 kilometers west of Weyburn along Highway 13 and just before Highway 6 is the small town of Khedive. In the middle of Khedive stands a massive, beautiful brick building which was once the Khedive Public School. However, since the school's closure back in 1976, it has stood mainly dormant.

That was until the Khedive Heritage Recreation Club was formed with the mission of preserving its heritage and bringing the building back to use by turning it into the Khedive Heritage Hall. The beautiful brick building will be the host location for the first ever Khedive Car & Tractor Show coming up this Sunday, June 1st. Kaylee Duncan, treasurer of the Khedive Heritage Rec Club, is excited for the inaugural show.

“We are hosting our first car and tractor show on June 1st. We are opening it up to all makes, models and years of all cars, trucks and tractors. We thought it would be great to bring out a bunch of different people and including the tractors would include some of the agricultural aspects of it, because there's not many of those shows around.”

Registration for the car and tractor show runs from 10:00 A.M. until noon, but people are encouraged to come out early and enjoy the pancake breakfast starting at 9:00 A.M. for $10 a plate. If you miss breakfast though, don’t worry as Bud’s BBQ’s food truck will be on site filling the June air with the delicious scent of barbeque.

With it being a car and tractor show, prizes will be on the line for the best of the best. Duncan explains the prizes that are up for grabs and how to register your car or tractor for the show.

“We are going to do prizes for Public Choice’s Best Car and Best Tractor, as well as Club Choice’s Best Tractor and Best Car, as well as Best Overall. For anyone wanting to enter, we are just asking for a donation, and proceeds will go back to the Khedive Heritage Rec Club and will go to the maintenance of the Heritage Rec Building.”

However, if you’re just looking to attend the show and take in all there is to offer, it is free for spectators. For more information about the Khedive Car & Tractor show or how to register, call or text Kaylee Duncan at 306-587-3171 and follow the Khedive Heritage Rec’s Facebook page.
