Arson charges laid in isolated incident: WPS

A fire on Sunday in the south part of Weyburn prompted a call to the Weyburn Police Service.

"We were able to quickly put out the fire and also quickly identify a suspect and take that suspect into custody, who was later charged with setting the fire for arson," said Sergeant Riley Ross. "The structure was never lit on fire, but there were some items in the front yard that were lit on fire." 

"This was an isolated incident," he noted. "The person who started the fire knew the individuals at the residence, and intentionally started the fire outside the residence for whatever reason."

In all, the Weyburn Police Service responded to 87 calls for service during the week of May 18th to May 25th.
