Dozens of people attended the Youth for Christ Film Festival Fundraiser on May 27.

It was an evening of film, faith, and fun, celebrating the work done by the youth. They created the short films by taking the lead in roles like the cast and crew.

Attendees enjoyed a red-carpet experience, complete with a volunteer photographer who captured special moments all evening. Coffee and popcorn were prepared and served.

Several of the youth spoke highly of the program. YFC, being a Christ-centred community, was highlighted throughout the night by the participants as the reason for their involvement in the program.

Joseph, a student in the YFC film and media program says the connections he's made since being involved have been beneficial, "It's really thanks to them that I've been coming week after week to produce all the short films."

YFC not only has a local impact, but a global one as well. Ines and Anna, volunteers originally from YFC Germany, are volunteering at YFC Winnipeg for a year. They shared how their participation has given them the ability to grow in personal faith while assisting youth and young adults, ultimately being a blessing in their own lives.

During her time at YFC Winnipeg, Ines has seen how her faith has been influenced, "I'm realizing how dependent I am on God." She is excited to take what she's learned in Winnipeg to YFC Germany.

Coming from Germany, Anna said firsthand how it felt, "Taking a step out of our comfort zone," while acknowledging the friendliness of Canadians made it easier.

The film festival ended on a high note with people coming together and celebrating the work God is doing through the ministry.
