The Weyburn Police Service responded to 87 calls for service throughout the week of May 18th to May 25th, with charges under the Liquor Act, a driving complaint, an arson investigation, and a significant breakthrough in a previously reported break-and-enter case.

One man last Saturday night was ticketed by the Weyburn Police Service under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act (AGRA) for possession of open alcohol. Then, later that night, the same man was reported causing a disturbance by yelling in public, and was arrested for public intoxication and held in cells until sober.

Also last Saturday, the Weyburn Police Service received a call of someone driving a vehicle through Elks Park, which was caught on video by a witness and the driver was issued multiple tickets. Had there been any damage to the park, mischief charges would have been considered.

A fire on Sunday in the south part of Weyburn prompted a call to the Weyburn Police Service. The fire was intentionally lit in this isolated incident.

Arrests have been made in a break-and-enter in August of 2024 wherein numerous items were reported stolen, including firearms, jewelry, Canadian currency, and game cameras.

Throughout the week, police responded to 12 calls related to mental health and wellbeing. Of those, four individuals were transported to the hospital for further care and evaluation.

And on a lighter note, the WPS helped out with the Soo Line Cruisers Car Club's first Care Home Cruise of the season on Sunday.
