The Okotoks Dawgs lost a tight one last night, 12-11, in their season opener in Medicine Hat.
The Dawgs and Mavericks battled all night, and it all came down to the final 9th inning.
The Dawgs' bats were hot, slugging out 18 hits on the night, and despite scoring 5 runs in the top of the 9th and leading the Mavericks 11-10, the Mavericks scored two in the bottom of the 9th to clinch the win 12-11.
Last year's WCBL champs will look to regroup for their home opener this Saturday at Seaman's Stadium.
They take on the newly rebranded Edmonton Prospects team, now known as the Energy City Cactus Rats, and they're based out of Spruce Grove.
The first pitch flies just after 7 p.m.
