The Back 40 Music Festival is set to return to Morden on Saturday, June 7th, promising a day of exceptional live music, local cuisine, and vibrant community spirit. Held in the picturesque Morden Park, the festival will run from 2 PM to 10 PM, offering attendees a memorable experience.

A diverse musical lineup

This year's festival boasts a dynamic mix of local talent and acclaimed touring artists. The main stage will feature performances by:

  • Roman Clarke – A multi-instrumentalist, producer, and artist from Winnipeg

  • Fontine – An indigenous musician celebrated for her fusion of culture and creativity.

  • Curubandé – A group bringing Latin rhythms to the forefront.

  • Paige Drobot – A singer-songwriter and incredible guitarist.

  • Boreal – Three renowned singer-songwriters, each with a long history of award-winning solo careers.

  • Joe Wilson – A local favorite known for his engaging performances, and retro outlaw country sound.

  • The Razberry Jam – A local band offering a mix of classic and contemporary sounds.

In addition to these performances, the festival features "Tweeners"—local artists who bridge the gaps between main acts. This year's Tweeners include Karl Redding, Madel Morin, Jenessa Kehler, and Steven Baker.

Community and culture at the heart

Sonia Funk, Director of sponsorship with the Back 40 Music Festival Committee, emphasized the festival's commitment to community engagement:

"Our mission is to keep homemade music alive while also supporting talent from across Canada," Funk said. "This festival is a celebration of local culture and a platform for artists to showcase their work."

The festival is not just about music; it's a community event that includes an artisan market, food trucks, a local craft beer tent, and children's activities, ensuring there's something for everyone.

A personal touch from the Emcee

Karl Redding, a local artist and the Emcee of the Back 40 Music Festival, shares his excitement about the event:

"It's an honor to be part of this festival," Redding says. "As both an artist and an emcee, I get to experience the festival from multiple perspectives, and it's always a joy to see the community come together to celebrate music."

Redding will also perform as a "Tweener," bridging the main acts with his unique musical style. He is looking forward to sharing a newly written song, inspired by his deep connection to the game of hockey. Moved by the recent passing of Winnipeg Jet Mark Scheifele’s father, Redding felt compelled to express his emotions through music. The result is a heartfelt tribute titled "You Go Play."

Join Karl, Sonia, and other talented folks on June 7th for a day filled with music, community, and celebration at the Back 40 Music Festival in Morden Park.
