Country artist Aaron Goodvin is getting ready to take the stage at the Living Skies Music Festival in Humboldt.

He is bringing with him a deep passion for performance, a powerful personal story, and a brand-new EP that’s as heartfelt as it is honest.

Goodvin reflected on his musical journey.

“I would be doing this no matter what level I was at. You know, I just feel like music is a part of my life. I'm so grateful that I've been able to make a career.”

Having lived in Nashville for 13 years, Goodvin joked,
If I'm here the next time the cicadas come, I'm doing pretty good. And that happened this year.”

While he’s now known across the country music scene, Goodvin’s roots run deep in songwriting.

“Bobby Pinson was one of the big ones. Brett James was another one. Jeffrey Steele. I was born in ‘85, so like any of those ‘90s writers—Marty Sanders, a bunch of those—are big kind of inspirations to me.”

From his first publishing deal to becoming a headliner, the journey hasn’t always been smooth.

“As a young artist at that time, like I just played as many shows as I could play. I played anywhere… weddings, funerals, Christmas tree showings, gas stations. I always said yes to every opportunity that I could play because I loved it so much.”

Goodvin also opened up about a personal transformation that’s shaped his latest music.
“Three years and two months ago, I found out… that I was an alcoholic and I didn’t really even know what that meant.”

He credits his wife, daughter, and faith for helping him through.
“God’s done a lot of amazing things in my life in the past three years, and I’m just so lucky I didn’t lose everything.”

His new EP, Drink In Hand, is a reflection of that journey.
“It just talks about my story and my process through learning this whole new way to live… This album—probably more personal than anything I’ve ever done.”

He hopes it resonates with listeners: “I just truly hope it touches a lot of people. It helps a lot of people.”

As for hitting the festival circuit, Goodvin couldn’t be more excited to join the Living Skies lineup.

“There's nothing better than a summer festival in Saskatchewan… Canada has some of the best country music fans.” Recalling his own time as a fan, he said, “Our whole family would go… and just get to spend time together and go watch some acts that we've always wanted to see.”

Backed by a tight-knit band he describes as family—“my band leader's been with me my whole career”—Goodvin promises an unforgettable show. “There’s no bigger high than that—and that’s coming from an alcoholic!”

When it comes to the tools of the trade, Goodvin’s favorite acoustic guitar is a Gibson. “My first was an Epiphone and then I upgraded to a songwriter deluxe… Now I've got two Gibson parlors that I love. They're like perfect for me.”

With his powerful voice, authentic songwriting, and honest storytelling, Aaron Goodvin is set to bring something truly special to the Living Skies Music Festival.

“We’ve heard about Living Skies… and I’m so happy that it’s all coming together. I can’t believe it’s almost here.”
