Estevan Police Service dealt with a range of incidents on May 28, including a hit-and-run collision, credit card fraud, and a theft arrest.
Police received a report of a vehicle window broken overnight. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, and the matter remains under investigation.
Members attended a report of a domestic disturbance occurring in the street. Both parties were spoken to and warned about their actions.
Police received a report of credit card fraud totaling $5,000. Several fraudulent charges were made without the owner’s knowledge. The matter has been reported to the credit card company, and the criminal investigation is ongoing.
A hit-and-run collision was reported at Estevan Comprehensive School. Witness statements and CCTV footage are being obtained as the investigation continues.
A well-being check was conducted on an individual reported to be suicidal. EPS and the Police and Crisis Team (PACT) located the person, who was then transported to hospital for further treatment.
Police received several reports of fireworks being set off in the 600-block of King Street. The homeowner was warned. EPS reminds the public that fireworks are not permitted within city limits.
Officers responded to a report of a dog attacking another dog. Both owners were spoken to. Neither animal was injured. A warning was issued for a dog running at large, as it had left the yard without the owner’s knowledge.
Police received calls about an intoxicated man walking along Third Street. He was located and transported to the residence of a sober friend. It was reported he was looking into vehicles along the way, but nothing was found on his person.
A 28-year-old Estevan man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 in connection to a theft reported on May 27. He was released with a court appearance scheduled in July. The stolen items were recovered.
EPS also conducted several curfew checks on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. One person was not at their approved residence during curfew hours and charges are pending.
Members of the Estevan Police Service are conducting training today, May 29, from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the 400-block of Willow Park Greens (Ambassador Village). There will be an increased police presence in the area during this time. EPS advises the public there is no risk associated with the training exercise.
