This weekend in Okotoks is jam-packed with sunshine and fun for all.
Not only is it forecasted to be around 30 degrees on Saturday (May 31), but baseball lovers rejoice, because this weekend marks the beginning of baseball season in Okotoks.
Here is what's happening this weekend:
Friday, May 30:
At the Environmental Education Centre this week, they will be teaching all about Fungi as part of Nature Fridays. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., youngsters will learn about Fungi and why they are important for the planet.
The Okotoks Dawgs are hosting Fan Fest from 4 to 8 p.m., where people can head down and check out the new additions to the stadium.
At the Okotoks Rec Centre, there is an Indigenous Artisan Market and a Tipi Camp. The Artisan Market will run from 4 to 8 p.m., while the Tipi Camp will be around all day at the splash park field by the Rec Centre. From 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tipi Camp, there will be Fireside Stores.
Saturday, May 31:
The Tipi Camp will be at the Spray Park Field by the Rec Centre all day.
The Indigenous Artisan Market will be open from noon until 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Rec Centre
The Grand Entry for the first Powwow to happen in the Town of Okotoks will be at 1 p.m. at the Okotoks Rec Centre. The Town of Okotoks and Siksika Nation have partnered up to bring this two-day competition to town, and all Powwow dancers can compete.
At the Okotoks Public Library, they are hosting a Be a Buddy, Not a Bully presentation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are also hosting the Teen Art Club from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
The Okotoks Dawgs' home opener is happening at 7:05 p.m. at Seaman Stadium, and the Dawgs are taking on the Energy City Cactus Rats.
Over at the Okotoks Elks Club, they are hosting their meat draw and perogie lunch, with the food being served at noon.
In Sheep River Park, there is the Sheep River parkrun, which begins at 9 a.m. People can participate by running, walking, or volunteering at this event.
Sunday, June 1:
The Tipi Camp will be around all day at the Spray Park Field by the Okotoks Rec Centre.
From 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Indigenous Artisan Market will be open from noon to 5 p.m. at the Rec Centre. The Town of Okotoks and Siksika Nation Powwow will be happening from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rec Centre.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eco Centre, the Town of Okotoks is hosting a Clothing Swap as part of their Environment Week.
The Okotoks Dawgs take on the Lethbridge Bulls at Seaman Stadium.
