The Estevan Motor Speedway is back on track following a cancellation during their last race day, with Saturday set to hold a number of races. President Brad Pierson says they're getting back in action with plenty of competitors heading to the track this weekend.

"We have all five classes this weekend. On top of that, MNP is our race night sponsor. It's also our first responder night, where if you're a first responder of any of our local police, fire, or ambulance, you get in free for this one."

The day will also have a special at the concession for footlong hot dogs available throughout the event.

The track has fared well even after getting hit with an absurd amount of rain earlier this month, says Pierson.

"We're in really good shape. You know, our facility eats up water very well. I was surprised being out there last week how good a shape it was in after, you know, whatever that was, five, six inches of rain. But it's good. The track, you know, when you get that much time, it just needs some time to sit on its own and let the sun and wind take care of it. So we'll be in great shape for this weekend."

With almost a month between races, Pierson says that the drivers coming down for some of Saturday's races will be very excited to get their engines started.

"I think everyone is [looking forward to the weekend] because it's been four weeks since we've raced. We raced on May 3rd. I think that's four weeks and just a long break. Some of these guys may go down to Williston or Minot or wherever. But for the ones that just race locally, that's too long of a wait early in the season when they're really geared up to go."

The first race is set to start at 7 p.m. Saturday night, with more info on the Estevan Motor Speedway's Facebook page and website.
