In Loving Memory of Michael Lorne Deutscher

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Lorne Deutscher—beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend—on May 30th, 2025 at Victoria Hospice in Victoria, British Columbia.

Michael was born on July 6th, 1946 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Michael Stanley and Etta Gertrude Deutscher (née Reinhart). He spent his early years in Saskatoon before the family settled in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, where he grew up surrounded by a close-knit and loving family.

In 1971, Michael married Patricia Margaret Ramsay, and together they built a life filled with lasting memories. He is lovingly remembered by Patricia; their children, Erik Deutscher (Riza) and Kirsten Farago (Aaron); and his cherished grandchildren, Cole Farago and Erik Paul Deutscher.

Michael is also survived by his brothers Ross (Maria) and Joe (Lorrie), as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas (Marci), Richard (Donna), Gary, and Paul.

Michael had a long and successful career as a Chartered Accountant, dedicating 40 years to his business before continuing as a CFO in retirement. Never one to stay idle, he embraced new interests later in life—including golf and a deep passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, which took him on many memorable long-distance road trips. Michael and Patricia retired to Victoria, British Columbia, where the mild climate allowed him to enjoy one of his favorite daily routines: walking several kilometres each day in the fresh ocean air.

Michael’s final days were spent in the comforting presence of his family, a reflection of the deep and enduring relationships he nurtured throughout his life. We are profoundly grateful for his wisdom, humor, and unwavering love.

In keeping with Michael’s wishes, there will be no formal service held.  The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the support and expressions of sympathy during this time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to Victoria Hospice, whose compassionate care supported him and his family during his final journey.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
