Tourism Saskatchewan celebrated Tourism Week last week, which gave Weyburn Tourism a great reason to present some local businesses with fun awards.
"We took our own little spin on it to recognize some of our own great businesses that we have in town, so we honored three businesses" said Monica Osborn, Executive Director. "We did the Rolling Pin, Ann's Nails, and The Slice, so we kind of came up with some fun, creative names for the awards and gave them a little tourism package and just thanked them for being part of our community and bringing tourism to Weyburn."
The Rollin Pin was presented with the 'Just One More Bite' award, The Slice Weyburn was given the 'Sharpest Business' award, and Ann's Nails & Spa was given the best 'I didn't know I needed this' award.
Osborn said they started the awards last year and will continue it in the future, choosing different businesses each year to bring to the spotlight.
"It's just a fun way to bring some recognition to those businesses."
This year's winners are either relatively new businesses or those that have expanded in collaboration with other businesses.
"So they're just adding a lot of different things into the businesses," she noted, adding that The Slice becoming reputed to be the only arcade-style axe-throwing business in the province.
Osborn encourages people who have not yet checked out these businesses, or any of the businesses in Weyburn, to do so.
"They all bring a positive aspect to our business community and we're just glad that they're part of our community."
