Aidan Turner of the Estevan Extreme Volleyball Club has been named Sask Volleyball’s 16U Male Indoor Athlete of the Year for the 2024–25 season.
Turner received the honour during Sask Volleyball’s annual awards banquet, held this past weekend in Saskatoon.
A standout with the Estevan Extreme program since 2021, Turner was recognized not only for his athletic ability and high volleyball IQ, but also for his commitment to growth, leadership, and the volleyball community.
“Aidan is an extraordinary example of what dedication to volleyball looks like,” Sask Volleyball shared during the ceremony. “He was quickly identified as an athlete with high performance potential. A high volleyball IQ paired with dynamic athleticism are contributing factors that make Aidan so dominant.”
Whether it is staying after practice to get extra reps or putting in time at the weightroom, Turner’s drive to improve has set him apart from his peers.
Last summer, Turner was selected to represent Saskatchewan at the Canada Cup. He was one of the younger players chosen for the provincial team.
Beyond his physical skill set, Turner was praised for his leadership, composure, and team-first mentality.
“Aidan not only excels physically through his skill acquisition and execution, but also as a teammate,” the presentation continued. “A fierce, powerful competitor can be found on the court, while a hardworking, passionate community member can be found off the court.”
Turner also gives back locally by coaching younger age groups and summer programs in Estevan, demonstrating his dedication to both the sport and his community.
