Most fundraisers look fairly similar nowadays. No matter how you raise the money, if it’s for a good cause, people can always rally behind it. Although from 50/50’s to raffles and giveaways, it can seem kind of repetitive or for lack of a better word, ‘boring’.
The Athletic Club noticed this as well and launched a new type of fundraiser called Move to Make a Difference. Combining the feel-good feeling of a fundraiser with the feel-good feeling of a great workout; they’re hoping they can raise funds for a good cause and raise your heartrate while they're at it.
They originally launched the Move to Make a Difference fundraiser back in April in support of Inclusion Weyburn and had fantastic success by raising over $1100. They wanted to follow that success up with their next event on Saturday, June 7th in support of KidSport Weyburn. Tricia Boren, owner and head coach of The Athletic Club, explains the upcoming blood-pumping fundraiser.
“So, what we are doing is one Saturday, every other month, we're hosting a workout and all proceeds received at the workout and from members prior to that workout than can’t make it are donated to a local organization and then the club matches 100% of the funds raised.”
The cost is $20 to register, with The Athletic Club matching and all the proceeds will go towards KidSport Weyburn helping kids enjoy sports here in the land of living skies. The workout starts at 10:00 A.M. and those interested are encouraged to register before the day in order to accommodate the workout. Boren says this is a great way to make a difference, both for the community and for yourself.
“That's kind of the focus of our Move to Make a Difference is (that) we want to keep our member funds within the community. So yeah, we think it's a good way for people to get active and give back at the same time.”
If interested in registering for the Move to Make a Difference on Saturday, June 7th at 10:00 A.M, you can register by directly messaging The Athletic Club on their social media pages such as their Facebook or Instagram, or by reaching out to Tricia Boren by text at 306-861-6350.
