Nighttime helicopter activity is expected to increase in the Kananaskis region over the next two weeks, as the Royal Canadian Air Force conducts low-level flight operations ahead of the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit.
From June 5 to 18, RCAF helicopters will be flying at altitudes of 2,000 feet or lower within a 35-nautical mile radius, about 65 kilometres, around Nakiska Ski Hill.
The training flights will take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and may include landings and operational maneuvers in designated areas.
The Canadian Armed Forces say this nighttime readiness training is essential for supporting the RCMP-led Integrated Security and Safety Group during the high-profile summit. The exercises are designed to ensure military personnel are fully prepared to contribute to a safe and secure environment throughout the international event.
