It’s time to party for a good cause as the 11th Annual Hair of the Dog is set for Saturday, June 14 at The Venue.

The evening promises music, auctions, raffles, and more, all in support of animals in the care of the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.

“It’s a fun night out over at The Venue,” says Robyn Roy, communications coordinator with the Humane Society. “There’s going to be dinner, live music, a silent auction, live auction, raffles, it’s just a really great evening of fun.”

Tickets are $50 and include dinner and entertainment. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

“It would be a great date night or grab your group of friends and head over there,” she says. “All proceeds are going to help the Cochrane & Area Humane Society keep our operations moving and provide medical care for the animals in need.”

Past events have been incredibly successful. The 10th annual Hair of the Dog raised $32,863, bringing the decade-long total to over $300,000 for local animals.

All funds from the evening go directly to helping animals at the shelter, from feeding and housing to ongoing medical treatments.

“We’ve had a lot of medical things happen lately,” Roy explains. “So the funds that we raise go towards all of that. Caring for the animals in our shelter, but also the medical side of everything as well.”

And the need for help isn’t slowing down.

“We have a ton of puppies and kittens, and it just keeps happening,” Roy says. “We actually had a whole litter of kittens born in the shelter on Friday. They’re in foster now, but they just keep adding up, so we are filling up.”

Tickets can be purchased online through the Humane Society’s website.

“It’s a true Cochrane event,” says Roy. “Just come as you are, bid on some auction items and raffle prizes, and have a good time, all while making a big difference for our animals.”
