Inner City Youth Alive continues to ask for prayers as a wildfire burns close to their wilderness camp.

Last Friday, winds from the west allowed the Nopiming Provincial Park fire to move within one kilometre of Gem Lake Wilderness Camp, prompting prayers for a miracle.

On Thursday, Inner City Youth Alive gave another update, saying by God's grace, those winds shifted and were significantly calmer than expected, sparing the camp over the weekend.

"On Monday, though the coverage was limited, the rain fell directly on the critical hotspots near the camp," said ICYA in an update on Facebook.

While the fire remains a concern, ICYA says these moments of relief have brought hope. They say they continue to monitor the situation closely and remain prepared.

In the meantime, they are asking for continued prayer for favourable weather conditions to protect the camp and surrounding areas, for their neighbours in Nopiming Provincial Park, many of whom have tragically lost homes and property, and for other ministries impacted by wildfires, including Teen Challenge, which suffered the total loss of their campus near Flin Flon earlier this week.

"Your support means the world to us, especially during times like these. Thank you for standing with Gem Lake Wilderness Camp."

Gem Lake Wilderness Camp has been running for around 18 years, offering transformative experiences to hundreds of inner-city youth each summer.
